Appropriation is the act of personally taking hold of the cleansing power of the Word of God and making it effective in your life through faith and obedience. It isn’t just hearing or agreeing with Scripture; it’s claiming its cleansing power for yourself and allowing it to work on your thoughts, motives, and conduct. When you appropriate the Word, you actively apply its truth to daily living, inviting divine cleansing to reshape you from within. The other terms don’t capture that personal, experiential claim and transformation—their sense of applying, accepting, or adopting doesn’t convey the active, intimate making-it-one’s-own that purity requires.
